Having Butterflies!.

Kapa Haka dress rehearsal.
19/09/2018

I’m so so so nervous. This couldn’t be happening. I have butterflies flying in my stomach. I think i’m going to puke. As the senior Kapa Haka group is standing outside the Memorial Hall, I’m so terrified about our performance. I thought what if I muck up? I heard heaps of people talking. I bet i’m way more nervous than them. I looked up on the stage. I was really really afraid. I’ve never enjoyed dress rehearsal.

A hour later, the senior girls were putting there skirt on. We were going into the kitchen room. Three Two One, give a round of applause for Tautoro senior rōopu. I can hear the crowd screaming” Yeah Tautoro, go hard Tautoro”. My hands were shaking then we walk a little bit forwards. I hear Sheeandra  call out commands like” Whakapiri”.

A few moments later I can hear Lloyd and Tyla saying the Tauparapara. Then we start singing. I can see heaps of girls bending their knees and doing a mean Pukana. Know where doing Toku Mauri. Now this is the waiata we always do sloppy actions.

A few Waiata later, We are starting the poi. I’m incredibly so nervous. I always muck up with the poi, (I’m not really good at doing the poi). Now it’s the Haka. I’ve always liked the boys doing the Haka (I wish I was one. I see the boys in there positions. I can hear, they’re kind of quiet. Clap Clap Clap! I can hear the crowd clapping and saying” Your amazing”.

The last waiata is coming up. I love this Waiata because it’s talking about the boundaries of Ngapuhi. Also it talks about the Maunga were it starts and where it ends. The song is called Te Whare Tapu O Ngapuhi. I love the end of the waiata because, when the boys do their part us girls just keep overpowering them, off the top of their brains.
